Oklahoma Launches Oklahoma Veterans Foundation to Strengthen Support for Veterans

OKLAHOMA CITY — In a landmark move to better serve Oklahoma’s veterans, Governor Kevin Stitt has signed legislation establishing the State of Oklahoma Veterans Foundation. This new, state-overseen nonprofit organization will significantly expand opportunities to support veterans across the state.

The Foundation will have the ability to accept private donations from individuals, nonprofits, and other supporters, allowing it to direct resources toward veteran programs and services beyond the limits of federal and state funding.

Senate Bill 530, authored by Senator Kelly Hines (R) and Representative Nicole Miller (R), empowers the Foundation to enhance veteran services through private contributions. The bill includes an emergency clause, meaning the Foundation became effective immediately upon the Governor’s signature.

“This is a major step forward in our ongoing mission to honor and care for Oklahoma’s veterans,” said Senator Hines. “By creating this Foundation, we can bring together private and public efforts to meet the needs of those who served.”

Representative Miller added, “Our veterans deserve more than gratitude; they deserve lasting support. The Foundation opens the door to new resources and meaningful programs that can truly make a difference.”

The legislation received overwhelming bipartisan support, passing unanimously in the Senate (47–0) on March 10, 2025, and clearing the House Veterans and Military Affairs Committee on April 10, 2025.

Operating as a private, nonprofit entity under Oklahoma law, the Foundation will work closely with the Oklahoma Veterans Commission (OVC) and the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) to identify and address the evolving needs of the state’s veteran community.

On behalf of Oklahoma’s veterans, heartfelt thanks are extended to Governor Stitt, Senator Hines, and Representative Miller for their leadership and commitment to those who have served.
